The Awful State of Education Blogging #2

Today's winner is:

Chad Lykins at Modest Meliorism for "The Awful State of Education Blogging"?

Perhaps. The author of D-Ed Reckoning has been kind enough to read and respond to my criticisms of his post about the "Broader and Bolder" report. He doesn't think very highly of my decision to give him the very first ASEB award.

I should be clearer about the criteria for winning an ASEB. It has little to do with being right or wrong. ASEB awards go to posts which resort to name-calling, which fail to consider the merits of other positions, and which carry the pretense of certainty and arrogance when doubt and modesty are more appropriate.

D-Ed's post refers to those with whom he disagrees as jackasses. It does not attempt to explain why intelligent, educated, and hardworking people might hold a position different than his.

I stand by the decision to give D-Ed the first ASEB award. He earned it.
